Police Reports and Arrest Records
The Baton Rouge Police Department processes requests for different types of public records and police information, including incident reports, crime statistics, and traffic crash reports.
Who Can Request a Police Report
Access to some police reports may be restricted to only authorized applicants. Requests can be made by witnesses or victims of a crime, insurance carriers, or legal representatives of victims. However, requests for juvenile information will require the permission of the presiding judge of the juvenile court.

How to Obtain Police Reports
Residents can access records directly at the police headquarters located at 9000 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. The records division opens between 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Requesters will be expected to provide as much information as possible, including the date/time of the incident, complainant’s name and address. Requests can be made by mail or in person. Regardless of the medium, the department charges a $10 fee for the first page and $1 for each additional page.
How to Obtain Traffic Crash Reports
Interested parties can obtain crash reports directly at the police headquarters. Reports can also be obtained via mail by sending a request to:

The division charges a $7.50 fee for traffic crash reports with an additional $1 per driver/witness statement.
How to Obtain Sex Offender Information
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections maintains an online registry that lists the names of registered sex offenders residing in New Orleans and the rest of the state. It provides general information such as the names and addresses of registrants as well as their convicted offenses.
Court Records
The Baton Rouge City Court processes criminal, traffic, and civil cases, including misdemeanors and matters involving personal injury. Residents can request public records under the public records law by submitting a request in writing to the clerk of courts at:

Records for cases filed at the 19th Judicial District court can be obtained by contacting the respective department at 300 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. The criminal records department serves as a central repository for all criminal records while the Civil Suit Records department stores all information used in civil cases. Older records may be housed off-site at the court’s former City Hall location or in the Archives Department, located at 444 St. Louis Street under the West River Center Parking Garage.
Vital Records
Baton Rouge vital records are processed at the county and state level. This includes birth certificates, death certificates, and records of domestic partnership. In line with state laws, only authorized persons may receive certified copies of a report. Applicants may be restricted from obtaining certified records depending on their eligibility.
How Do I Obtain Divorce Records
Certified copies of divorce decrees can be obtained at the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Courts. Residents can obtain records by submitting requests in person or by mail at:

How Do I Obtain Birth and Death Records
Certified copies of birth and death certificates can be obtained from the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s Office. Walk-in requests are processed at the Governmental Building/City Hall, 222 St. Louis Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (70802). All requests must include a copy of a valid picture I.D., such as a driver’s license, passport, military identification card or state identification card. Records can only be released to individuals who qualify for eligibility, such as the parents, legal guardian, child or legal representative.
Birth and death certificates can also be obtained at the Louisiana Department of Health State Registrar & Vital Records. To be eligible to apply for a birth certificate, requesters must be:
